We were pleased to again present the three annual ATEXINC Awards for Textile Design at the 2010 ITAA meeting in Montreal. Each of the awards included $300, and were awarded in the three categories of Undergraduate Student, Graduate Student, and Professional ITAA member. Congratulations to the winners!

Founder and president Patty Brown has been an educator for over 20 years. She achieved perfect academic records
while earning her undergraduate degree as a Pershing Scholar at Truman State University, and her graduate degree
as a Gregory Fellow at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Patty has taught part-time as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Missouri-Columbia, full-time as an Instructor at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, and full-time and as an Assistant Professor at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, TX. She also served as a full-time District Home Economist for Hancock Fabrics in the Ft. Worth, TX area. From 1988 to 2001, she taught part-time as an Adjunct Instructor in the Fashion Merchandising and Marketing and Management departments at Johnson County Community College (JCCC), while writing and building ATEXINC. Patty is co-author with Janett Rice of the best-selling textbook, Ready-to-Wear Apparel Analysis, a Prentice Hall publication now in its third edition.
Since founding ATEXINC in 1988, Patty has developed a number of educational products for teaching textiles and apparel. She continues to work on the development of educational products in service to the field of textiles and apparel. In 2011, Patty was awarded the Citation of Merit in the College of Human Environmental Sciences from the Mizzou Alumni Association at the University of Missouri, in recognition of her outstanding achievement and meritorious service.
