with multi-fiber fabric references, to identify fibers quickly and simply and
with no complicated equipment. Now the Shirlastain Education Kit is available as
an economical introduction to the process. Sorry, no returns or exchanges of textile

The Shirley Multifibre Fabric Strip in the kit serves as a
reference and contains the following undyed fibers: cotton, viscose rayon, wool,
silk, cellulose secondary acetate, cellulose acetate, nylon 6.6, nylon 6,
polyester, Acrilan 1656, Courtelle, and Orlon 42. The sample under test is
immersed in the reactive stain and the resultant color identifies the fiber. You
will never find a more perfect way to communicate to your students the variation
in the chemical composition and molecular arrangement of various fibers.
Students will now understand the challenges of textile dyeing and concepts of
cross dyeing and union dyeing.
The Shirlastain Education Kit contains full instructions, and
enough ingredients and consumables for over 40 tests with each Shirlastain type.
Each item in the kit is renewable separately as required. We think you’ll
